    Artist-in-Residence at Alila Anji

    August 8, 2018 / 1 Comment

Super excited and honoured to be a guest at the Alila Anji for a series of weekends dedicated to artful explorations with kids. The program is called “Artist-in-Residence” which is part of the pop-up series of events. I’ve been asked to develop a series of art workshops for kids and adults who are guests at the resort (check out their website and you will see how amazing the resort is). While this is not something I do full-time (since I have company to run), I think this is something I can add to my bulging bag of experiences. Bucketlist ticked? Yes can be that esp since I have thought of creating…

DIY + Recycled Watercolour Set Tutorial

    November 18, 2016 / 2 Comments

These days my head is filled with wanting to get more watercolours as part of my EDC (everyday carry) but haven’t been able to find the ‘right’ one apart from the Peerless watercolors I already have in my Traveler’s Notebook. Until I found these small clear containers on Taobao, but the coordinating case for it was still too thick to use. And then lightbulb idea (!) when the phone protective film that I purchased came with a very slim plastic case. Immediately I tried putting the containers inside and they fit perfectly inside! Yippee! It’s always great when you can combine a DIY and recycling something at the same time. This is the…

Art Journal | Get Messy Season 8: Messy Lists Part 4

    June 4, 2016 / 2 Comments

Sharing my pages for the GetMessy Messy List part 4. Somehow this set of prompts got me quite inspired to do quickly (unfortunately it took me a while to get this post out). I think it is also to do with having a smaller area to play with and getting most background done before putting on the finishing touches on each spread. Here are my spreads: Since I wrote this list for the prompt, new trips have suddenly come up which I am excited about. One of this is to Tokyo and another to Wuxi, China. Thank you for looking.

This blogpost is way way way overdue. My pages for the Get Messy Messy Lists #3 and #4 were done some time ago but somehow time went in a blur and kept forgetting to take photos of them for this post. So finally, I’m sharing my Messy List #3 here below. Thank you for looking.

    ‘Happy Little Moments’ Workshop

    May 5, 2016 / 2 Comments

So excited to share with you all about the recently concluded Planner/Journal Market (手帐集市)that was held last May 1. This is the third time that I’ve been to this 1-day event but this time around, I was asked to give a 40-minute workshop about decorating with Instax photos, wash tapes, stickers and etc. on the Midori Traveler’s Notebook. This workshop was in Chinese so it was a bit scary for me to give a workshop using a language for which i’m not a native speaker. After deliberating for a long time, I decided on the theme “Happy Little Moments” for everyone to document simple stories that happens everyday in their life.…

Art Journal | Get Messy Season 8: Messy Lists Part 2

    April 26, 2016 / No Comments

So far so good with keeping up with the Get Messy art journal Messy Lists challenge. I’m enjoying the time spent in the evenings to make my pages. One thing I have noticed though is that I realised I spent more time than needed on these pages… I seem to have reverted back into “over thinking” things. But that is changing on the 3rd round, for sure! So here is what I made for the second set of prompts: Thank you for looking.

Art Journal | Get Messy Season 8: Messy Lists Part 1

    April 20, 2016 / No Comments

It’s Season 8 of the Get Messy art journal challenge. Last year I ended up only getting up to Season 2 and 3 because my full-time work got too hectic. And I also realise that I seem to overthink my pages and spent too much time visualising how it will look which in the end, well, got me sidetracked into other stuff. When the collab between Get Messy and 30 Days of List came up, I knew I didn’t want to pass up on this one. And this time around, I am changing things around by: Destashing – I am using a handmade MTN insert using various papers from my…

    Pocket Letters

    June 18, 2015 / No Comments

Have you heard about latest ‘craze’ with Pocket Letters, started by Janette Lane? There is a lot of posts on IG about this. I’ve only stumbled upon this a couple months ago and have had the pleasure of swapping with a couple partners on the Pocket Letter Pals site. Unfortunately I was too excited to send out my pocket letters that I forgot to take photos of them! This time around, I managed to do 4 pocket letters and remembered to take photos before sending them out. Here’s a few photos from what I made… This one here is for a private swap. She likes shabby chic stuff so I…

    So Ecstatic!

    May 20, 2010 / No Comments

Yes! I’m so over the moon today. Thank you to Grandma G, I made my own homemade deodorant, something I would never have thought I’d end up making one day. I tried it out today wearing sleeveless top. And so far, no smell at all, which is something that has never happened with store-bought ones I’ve tried before.

The mixed results I got from last Sunday’s ecoprint play using @jackravi lesson from @fodder.school . I probably still need more rust and longer time in the soak. Process over results.
