Re-kindle.
Re-start.
Refresh.
These words have been echoing in my mind for the past few months – a surreal tally of spinning, sometimes blurry days that amounted to what feels like an eternity. I needed to write a post that might delve into emotions or feel uncomfortably raw. The challenges of 2023 left me wandering, feeling lost in almost every aspect of my life.
In November, I decided to step back from art challenges and classes, focusing instead on tying up loose ends and cherishing the last year before my kids left for university. I started saying “no” to many things.

If you’ve followed my journey on Instagram, you may have noticed fewer posts documenting my artistic endeavors. I had hoped to find solace in art once again come January. But as January gave way to February, and now nearly March, I still find myself adrift.
What do you do when a beloved art journaling community becomes polarized, transforming into something unrecognizable instantly?
How do you navigate the absence of that cherished morning routine, that sacred pocket of time for creativity?
And how does one overcome an artist’s block?
How has the new year treated you?

Perhaps this pause was necessary. Perhaps now is the time to:
Re-kindle my passion for art.
Re-start anew, even if it’s just for five minutes a day, embracing intentionality.
Refresh old ideas, allowing curiosity to reignite.

Thank you for stopping by.

Are you able to take a holiday? I find going somewhere I haven’t been, even if it’s in my home city, can really help. Be gentle with yourself.
