    An HST Quilt for Patricia

So happy to share the quilt I finished up for my friend, Patricia, last August. This took too long to get started and finished but it when I did finish, I couldn’t help from feeling oh so giddy! Patricia is a very dear friend, our friendship is one I cherish a lot. Her son was in the same class as my kids in a local kindergarten. Somehow the only foreign kids in the class gravitated towards each other! (Don’t know how that happened at their young age!) After her family moved to Hong Kong from Shanghai, we have managed to keep in touch and…

    Quilts of 2015

This year was one of those times where I’ve surprisingly sewn more quilts than any other year! I’ve surprised myself for even managing to finish them in time. I love how these simple blocks turned out. A combination of different blocks that I’ve been sewing since 2014! I usually don’t follow a pattern or have anything concrete as I am making the quilts. I just mix-&-match them and play around before settling on the final ‘layout’. And then I decidedly to finally try my hand at chevron pattern, moving away from my squares.    I quite love the way this…

    Last Quilts of 2010

These were actually quilts I’ve made as Christmas presents to my in-laws but didn’t want to post of these until after I knew that the recipient(s) has received their quilts. Both quilts are a mix of cotton and linen and just love the mix.

    Blog Slack

Lately blogging has been on the bottom of my priorities with so much going on mostly at work. The very few spots of time in between that and spending time with family see me sewing and sewing and sewing.

    Quilt for Penny Finished

Made a lap quilt for our housekeeper as she’s just moved to a new home and we thought it would be nice to give her a housewarming present. Managed to finish this quite quickly. Maybe because I didn’t struggle with the quilting on this as I did on the other quilts… or maybe because I was inspired.

    Double Happiness Quilt

Yes, I’ve finally managed to finish a wedding gift for my cousin Gil. It’s a very late present but as the saying goes: better late than never. Probably would be even later since I’m mailing this to him in the US.

    Sewing and Baking Cakes

Yes, a lot of sewing and baking going on around here. Taking advantage of the yucky wet and humid weather to do some sewing. I wish this ‘plum season’ will pass, somehow this year it feels quite drawn out… So in a way, I do not really feel ‘summer’ in Shanghai as we are missing the sun shiny days we used to have. Okay, it can get very hot here but compared to this icky weather, I wouldn’t mind it at all.

    Quilts for Owen and Liam

Today was the last day of school for the kids. They are going on to ‘zhong ban’ (means ‘middle’ kindergarten) next year. The year has gone rather quickly. And to top that, one of the kids’ classmate, Owen, will be moving to Hong Kong so there was a bit of flurry of activities esp. for me, trying to finish up my first ‘proper’ quilt.
