    Project Life | Weeks 10-14

    May 1, 2015 / No Comments

Days seem to be passing me by in a blur! I’m typically mostly caught up with Project Life but it’s getting the photos done, editing and creating a blog post that seem to take me longer to do. Anyways, here are my March pages. April is almost done and will take advantage of the Labour Day weekend to do the blogpost. Week 10 is mostly about new school semester and new routine which made it a hectic week so did not a lot of chance to take photos. Week 11 is mostly trying to adjust to the new routine, getting back into school life (which is typically packed with homework),…

    On Journaling | Part 1

    February 20, 2015 / 1 Comment

A little bit of background history… In grade school, we had a very strict teacher/principal who was really particular about penmanship. If I may say so myself, I would say I had a pretty good penmanship. I also remember my sister who was my role model for writing neatly that I would try to copy her writing often and try to be like her. When I got to university, typography classes were my favourite and was proud to always get a perfect score. This was way before computers were prevalent and everything was hand-drawn or handwritten. I kept diaries and even diligently wrote one in Chinese as part of the…

… our days seem to go in a blur! … keeping a journal handy with my fauxdori (courtesy from the fantastic Happie Scrappie) and custom-made insert to document our Week in the Life … school homework takes a big part of our evenings … work has been hectic with deadlines all sort of happening at the same time … organizing a trick-or-treat for our entire apartment complex (4 buildings) at the last-minute; so far there is 60 kids registered and 25 apartments … some routines are changing almost everyday and some of those changes are a challenge and some are not too bad … on some nights, we only have time…

Where I Can Be Found These Days

    April 16, 2013 / No Comments

Life has been so full these days. There has been hardly any time to update this blog these days… in between doing Project Life, being on top of the kids’ school assignments, doing a lot of pinning and full-time work. Lately you can find more updates of our lives in Shanghai via Instagram.

    Routines and the Everyday

    March 9, 2012 / No Comments

It has been a while since the last blog post. Life has been full! Kids are in their last term of kindergarten before grade school. Finding the ‘right’ local school is on our to-do list. International schools in Shanghai are not affordable.

Documenting | Week in the Life

    August 1, 2011 / 3 Comments

Wow! What a week! The big full week is over. The Week in the Life project by Ali happened at exactly the same time. A big challenge to juggle all the documenting with crazy work schedule, but looking back at the week, it was actually great. The project allowed me to document one of the rare sort of week we have had so far.

Plum Season Has Descended in Shanghai

    June 15, 2011 / No Comments

Yes, the wet and humid weather typical of the ‘plum season’ has descended on us. A typical June weather that calls for wellies and raincoats as we walk to school and work every morning during the weekdays. This is the season when closets needs more airing to prevent mold and mildew from setting, when laundry don’t dry as quickly, when it pours when it rains and sometimes, flooded streets.

    October 31, 2010 / No Comments

10 years ago in Taipei, I met the person who changed my life. 10 years ago in Taipei, he surprised me and proposed at Burger King. 10 years ago in Taipei, we had a ‘big’ church wedding at a small chapel in Tienmu attended by family and friends, some who even flew from the other side of the world to celebrate with us. 10 years ago in Shanghai, we are in our ‘honeymoon’; an extended one. 10 years ago in London, we had another wedding; a small civil wedding. 10 years later in Shanghai, I’m blessed with a great husband and dad. Thank you, Simon. Audrey gave us a drawing…

    5th Birthday

    September 27, 2010 / No Comments

Still cannot believe that my kids have turned 5!!! It’s a big number. And it so happened that this year, their birthday fell on the same day as the Mid-Autumn Festival which is an important Chinese holiday. It signals Autumn and also a time for getting together, enjoying mooncakes and families gather around to enjoy the full moon.

🌼🌸 #FlowerMagicArtFest2026 — It felt great to be making plenty of texture in an art journal format again. Thanks to the lesson by @izabelatysver, I created 2 pages in my FMAF26 journal instead of a zine format (well, at least for now…). 🌸
